Picture week: april 15-20, 2024
Held at Alpha & Omega Dance Academy during your normal class time
Every year, we provide the opportunity for students to get professional class and individual pictures taken in their recital costume! To make it even more convenient for you, these pictures take place at AODA during their normal class time.
A Picture Order Form will be available at the front office in the weeks leading up to Picture Week, and one form is needed per class or individual picture. There is NO FEE to participate in class pictures; instead, you pay only for your desired pictures, and you select the picture package you would like. Further questions about the form and package options can be addressed to Millshots Photography at 910-339-0473 or through their website at millshotsphotography.com. Please do not ask us about the package options or payment, as we do not handle any of that and will only direct you back to Millshots. They have worked with us for many years and will be able to help you!
During Picture Week, come to your class 5-10 minutes early, already dressed in your costume with the appropriate tights/shoes; those instructions can be found on your costume bag or on the documents hanging up at the studio. For Picture Week, hair and makeup can be fixed however the student would like it to look for their picture. (For rehearsal and recital, however, hair will need to be fixed according to the teacher's preference.) If you have further questions about costume instructions, please speak to your teacher.
NOTE: Even if you are not planning on purchasing any pictures, please still come so the class can get their group picture. Also, if you are in a technique class or are not participating in recital, you can still come to class and get an individual picture! Please speak with your teacher for ideas of what you could wear.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take?
Pictures may take the majority of normal class time, but some students may finish earlier than normal, especially if they have a smaller class. It is up to the teacher if they would like the students to stay and practice their dance at all. Because of this, parents are welcome to stay in the parking lot until their student is done, or the student can stay on property for the duration of their normal class time. If a student has another class(es) following their first class, they can bring all of their costumes with them and begin changing once they are done and have permission from their teacher. Don’t forget to bring all the appropriate tights and shoes!
Can parents stay inside during Picture Week?
As of now, parents of young students can come in to drop off the Picture Order Form with Millshots Photography, but we may need to keep the inside crowd limited due to size restrictions. We will send updates about this as we get closer.
Will they have to wear a mask in the photo?
Students do not need to wear a mask in the photo. They should adhere to the City of Fayetteville’s current stance on masks, at the time of these pictures.
What about if I am in a technique class or not participating in recital?
If you are in a technique class or are not participating in recital, you can still come to class and get an individual picture! For those in a technique class, this is a great chance to take a photo in your classic ballet attire, pointe shoes (if applicable), or another costume you would like to wear. For further ideas, please speak with your teacher.
