summer dance 2026

Join us for dance this summer! If you’ve danced before, continuing over the summer will make a huge impact in your growth, plus this gives you the chance to try out a new class or style. If you are new to dance, this is a great way to get started. We also recommend any young dancers who will be starting dance in the fall for the first time, to actually start over the summer if possible. The shorter session and the relaxed pace help set them up for success!

More about each class/dance style…

Ages 2-4

Creative Movement: This is a class where a brand new dancer can learn basic dance and coordination skills while still having fun! For many of our students, this is their first experience with a structured dance or group class, so we will explain and teach how to stand in a line, take turns, share as we dance and play games — all while having fun and moving at a more relaxed pace than our older dance classes. As a result, students will be introduced to the basic foundations of not only dance but also musicality, rhythm, motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness, as well as benefit from learning how to follow directions, group play, creative expression, cognitive/physical development, and much more. This will be a fun and exciting class, as well as a helpful tool for students when they move into older dance classes, preschool, or daycare programs! *If child is not fully potty-trained prior to enrollment, they must wear a pull-up/diaper under their dance clothes, and the parent must stay on property (in the hallway), as we are not able to accommodate any diaper changes, etc. This class also does not perform in our Spring Recital; please contact us with any questions.

Ages 4-6

Pre-Ballet/Jazz or Pre-Ballet/Tap: These combination classes are designed for boys and girls ages 4-6 years old. They combine the foundational basics of ballet and either jazz or tap (depending on the class) by covering positions, movements, stretches, terminology, rhythm, musicality, body/spatial awareness, confidence, and performance skills. This class utilizes fun, creative, and age-appropriate curriculum that has been professionally designed by AODA leadership. Your dancer will make new friends, grow in social skills, and develop a love for dance and movement! *This class was formerly called Ballet/Jazz or Ballet/Tap; it is the same class. Children must also be fully potty-trained prior to enrollment. Thank you!

Ages 7+, 11+

Ballet/Jazz Combo: This new combo class is designed to introduce students to both classic styles of ballet and jazz. We will rotate through styles each week, maximizing each student’s exposure and growth process. Their recital dance will be either ballet or jazz. Read below for more info about each style.

  • Ballet: Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles and a great class for beginners or the most advanced student. It involves barre, center floor work, and combinations that focus on the dancer's musicality, technique, coordination, core strength, and grace. We recommend ballet for every single dancer, regardless of which style they are focusing on. AODA’s ballet classes utilize French and Cecchetti technique, as well as some Russian technique in the more advanced levels.

  • Jazz: Our jazz classes can range from broadway jazz to more modern jazz pop, but all jazz is characterized by the use of improvisation and influenced by rhythms and techniques of jazz music. Students will be pushed with this fast-paced, dynamic, and fun choreography! Jazz draws from the same techniques of ballet while changing them slightly to make them unique (purposefully using parallel instead of utilizing one’s turn out, flexing feet instead of always pointing them, etc). This class is recommended for those looking for a fun way to exercise or to increase their cardio in other dance styles, and it is a must-have for those interested in musical theatre, as much of broadway choreography utilizes jazz dance.

Teen/Adult & Adult Classes (non-performing classes)

Adult Ballet: Ballet is a good foundation of dance styles and a great class for beginners or the most advanced student. It involves barre, center floor work, and combinations that focus on the dancer's musicality, technique, coordination, core strength, and grace. This is why we recommend ballet for every dancer, even if they’re focusing on contemporary or jazz, etc, instead of solely ballet! This ballet class is designed for adults who are beginners in ballet, haven't danced in a while, or have a few years of experience. If you are at an intermediate level, you will receive modifications that are appropriate to your ability. You’ll leave each class inspired to reach your full potential! *This class does not perform in Winter Showcase or Spring Recital.

Teen/Adult Tap: Tap focuses on natural movement combined with great muscle coordination and memory. The use of taps on the dancer's shoes emphasizes different sounds and rhythms and is lots of fun for people of all ages! This ballet class is designed for adults who are beginners in tap, haven't danced in a while, or have a few years of experience. If you are at an intermediate level, you will receive modifications that are appropriate to your ability. *This class does not perform in Winter Showcase or Spring Recital.
