recital theme for 2020:
The Orphans’ Strike: For Such A Time As This”

This year we are excited to announce our recital theme is “The Orphans’ Strike: For Such A Time As This.” Inspired by two different musicals (can you guess which ones?) plus a dash of AODA creativity, this production takes a look at young Jackie, an orphan who has lots of spunk, dreams, and positivity. We’ll follow Jackie as she meets a group of newsies who are about to strike due to unjust work environments. Along the way they meet Esther, an aspiring journalist who is full of courage and compassion — when she hears of the condition of the orphanage Jackie is from and the plight of the newsies, Esther realizes she might have been placed here for such a time as this!

How Does Recital Work?

Each class will have a specific theme that is part of the story line. Classes for ages 3-6yo will be performing within the recital theme at their own special recital in the morning (time TBA). Classes for ages 7yo+ will be part of a longer production in the afternoon/evening. This year we have so many classes that we are excited to have TWO SHOWS for 7+ with two separate dress rehearsals. Some classes will perform in both shows, and some classes will just perform in one. More details to come in the approaching months, so stay tuned!
